- I'm aware that Jonah Goldberg stands somewhere to the right -- well, I don't want to say "right," I really just want to say "dumb" -- of much of his party, but it bothers me that people think this:
Jonah Goldberg: The benefit of Bush’s compassionate conservatism [in 2000] was that it was majorly a marketing slogan…
Alex Chadwick: You mean you’re worried Mike Huckabee might actually mean it?
Goldberg: Yes, that’s what I’m terrified of.
- We should start a list of aspects of the executive branch that the Bush Administration thinks are subject to review by the courts, because it would be a hell of a lot shorter than the stuff the administration think isn't subject to review.
- The best laid plans of Kenyans and Clintons . . . (another Andrew Sullivan argument in favor of Obama)
- A solid explanation for why John Edwards remains in the race:
And what of Edwards? It is hard to see where he will win, or when he will start winning, but he maintains a solid base of support -- 15.7% nationally, 11.7% in Nevada, 15.3% in South Carolina. As long as Clinton vs. Obama is a dead heat, it makes sense for Edwards to stay in -- if not as a realistic candidate for the nomination, then as a possible king (or queen) maker.
- Chris Dodd is now successfully doing Harry Reid's job for him.
