Early Reports

I showed up at my polling place at 6:08 this morning (they open at 6) and was happy that I only had to wait 15 minutes before getting a ballot. Wyl sent me a text at 7:41 saying that he had tried to beat the line by getting to his polling place in Madison before they opened, only to find that there were already lines out both doors and a 45 minute wait.

In almost every (if not every) other democracy on the planet, election day is declared a national holiday so that everyone can vote. Why this idea has never taken root here, I have no idea. The only place I should be going at 6:08 in the morning is home, to bed.
